The time I said “badassery” on the news

I really shouldn’t be put in front of a camera.

I nervously ramble. I pause annoyingly while I try to think. I fidget and laugh and am altogether ridiculous. (There are good reasons why I’m a writer and not a speaker.)

But I ended up on video recently nonetheless.

Our local NBC affiliate interviewed me about One Word 365 for a news segment. Regardless of how I feel about seeing/hearing myself on TV, I’m so grateful they were interested in what we’re all doing. Thank you, WSMV, for helping spread the word to get others involved.

And thank you for letting me say “badassery” on the evening news.

Terry Weaver: Alece May Ronzino, (I decided I need use a made up middle name to get my point across) stop underestimating your worth and your talents! You are great on camera. You ooze badassery, its what you do. Thanks for leading the charge on this every year. It's one thing to have an idea, it's another to keep showing up year after year. I've been so mad at myself for being stuck on my word. I am just glad to be a part! Reply

Alece Ronzino: I *love* that you gave me a middle name! hahaha! Message received, Terry. Thank you. Your words mean a lot. Reply

Joshua Garrett: Great job! Very cool. Keep it up Alece. Reply

Michelle Wood: 1) All the ladies in our church are asking God for their word, with amazing blessings coming as a result! 2) My word this year is "awe" and Psalm 5:7 and Psalm 65:5-8 have become "my" verses. It's been great to meditate on them and have His Spirit guide my steps. 3) There is one other person with "awe" for their word -- Emily Hadley in Victoria BC. I can't figure out how to get in touch with her. I'm not sure if I put my Facebook name in my profile, and can't find her on Facebook either. Is there any way of you getting a message to her email address, giving her mine? It's such an unusual word, and I'd love to share stories! 4) Thank you so much for starting this -- it's a great idea! Alece Ronzino: Michelle -- how about you write a message to Emily and send it through to me... I'll forward it on via email to her and encourage her to reach out to you to connect! [email protected] Reply

John Blase: Love it! Great job. Reply

Betty Draper: I did pick a word this year, just did not post it on your site, sorry. But my word is, Knowledge, so to implement my word I will have to use my time wisely to gain the knowledge I so desire, The practice knowledge I want to gain is learn more ways to use my cell phone...ugg...it's been my enemy since we return to the states and I want to make it my friend. I want to learn more about God and His ways in all that I do and be able to give it out when needed. I am with the others, you did well on TV...but not surprised. God is being up lifted out of your discouraging times and others are being helped to turn to Him as they think about their word. Blessing Diane sweet daughter. Reply

Alece Ronzino: Thank you, Betty! I hope your knowledge journey is even more impactful than you anticipate! Reply
