Can you believe it’s already May? Sheesh. This year is going by fast!

So let’s check in with each other for a One Word 365 update.

I would love to hear how your word has developed in you, how it’s impacted you, and the ways it’s taken on significance in your life. So stop for a few minutes and take your pulse:

How has your word taken shape? And how has it shaped you?

Does it mean something different to you now than you thought it would?

How has it steered your decisions, plans, and actions?

What challenges and victories have you experienced?

How do you remain intentional about it? How can you continue to focus on it during the rest of the year?

This is a mile-marker.

To look back and see how far you’ve come, but also to help you set your sights forward on the days that lie ahead of you. Taking time to honestly process how you’re really doing will help you move forward with purpose.

So write an update post about your One Word 365, and come back here to link up so the whole community can read it.

If you haven’t chosen a word for yourself yet, it’s not too late. It’s never too late to choose to live each day with intentionality and focus. So choose a word, blog about it, and dive right in with us.

I think it would be amazing if each of us took time to read at least 5 update posts from this link list. We can speak words of life and truth to each other’s hearts, and rally around one another in encouragement and support.

We’re in this together!

So, you’ve got dreams. Who cares?

The world doesn’t need your dreams; it needs your action. It needs your life to matter. So do you.

How do you begin? Start.

This is not a dress rehearsal.

This is life. The real deal. The main event. And there is no practice. Every day, you are participating, or not.

You were made to create something — to build a family, write a song, found an organization.

You weren’t born to simply follow orders. You were created to be creative — whether you’re an artist, plumber, or saleswoman. The legacy you leave hinges on your decision to start. To create something worth noticing.

If you wait, you fail.

I struggle greatly with jealousy. The fruit of my jealousy is comparison.

I have entered a very new season of relocating, job searching, and just the unknown of everything. Sitting in a place of feeling far from myself and a bit lost is hard on the heart. This is a place jealousy feeds from.

This is where my word “celebrate” comes in.

Celebration is the active opposite of jealousy. I want to create a new pattern of celebrating the gifts, dreams, and favor of others first. I want to get to a place where my first response is joy and the genuine excitement of another’s good fortune.

Celebration is the discipline I desire to conquer in 2012!

Mandy Steward – AKA @messycanvas — has bravely chosen vulnerable as her word for the year. (Seriously. Brave.)

And she wrote an amazing post on what do with your word once you choose it.

Like…

{here’s an excerpt from her post…}

Look for the word everywhere. I find it shows up a lot when I’m on the lookout for it. Kind of like when you buy a new car and then all of a sudden you see lots of people driving the type of car you have. The word will show up in books, movies, music, conversation.

Write your word. A lot. Paint it. Ink it. Color pencil it. Crayon it. Type it. Spell it out with those plastic colorful alphabet magnets. Write it in dust. Write it on a dry erase board or a chalkboard. Write it on your dirty car. Spell it with spaghetti noodles. Cut out the letters from a magazine and collage it. Just keep writing it.

Make lists of what you want the word to bring out in you. Why is the word is so important to you? What sort of self-love will that word give you? Make lots of lists. Cast vision so you can step into the word fully.

Bring the word up in conversation. Let friends and family know it’s your word. In doing so, they’ll keep an eye out for the word as well and give you further insight and research into your word.

Make sure you read her entire post. You don’t want to miss all the great suggestions for how you can personalize this 365-day journey…

(Well, actually, since it’s a leap year, it’s a 366-day journey…but hey!)
